Project 1—Interactive PDFs for Digital Art and Design Degree and Certificate and Fine Arts Degree at MVCC. This is a recruitment piece.
In-Progress Critique: 02.23.16Deadline: 02.25.16
Specs:
- Minimum 8 pages
- Use of master pages, layers, color swatches, grid system, styles (character, paragraph and object)
- MVCC logo (in Google Drive) and contact info; consideration of MVCC brand
- Images—this is an art department piece, it should have a lot of visuals
- Must include the following interactive elements
- Navigational system: buttons, hyperlinks, etc (choose what works for your design)
- Multistate object
- Interactive Form
- Link to MVCC website–page of your choosing
Submit:
- Artist Statement–talk about concept and goals and how elements of design support these items.
- Time-log
- Preliminaries–storyboards, wireframes, etc.
- Packaged InDesign file with interactive file (pdf, swf, or epub)

Project 2—Animation
In-Progress Critique: March 22Deadline: March 31
Re-Submit Deadline: Thursday, May 12th
Create an animation.
Minimum
24 fps or 30 fps. Choose one topic:
- "Movie title sequence" to P1 MVCC Interactive PDF
- Introduction to your portfolio.
- A portfolio piece that is consistent with the themes you have already been working with for your projects. Look back at past work and determine an underlying theme that has continued throughout your work.
- Artist Statement–talk about concept and goals and how elements of design support these items.
- Time-log
- Preliminaries–storyboards, wireframes, etc.
- Published design

Project 3—Web
In-Progress Critique: April 14
Deadline: Tuesday, May 3
Create a portfolio website using Adobe Muse.
Professionally created:
- Sitemap
- Wireframes for each page
- Color palette using HEX codes
- any other preliminaries necessary to create your project
Minimum elements your site must contain:
- Minimum 5 pages or sections (if one-page website)
- Navigation systems including menu, anchors and body copy links and link to an external site (perhaps your LinkedIn profile) or file (perhaps a PDF downloadable portfolio or your résumé–be careful with personal info, or P1 interactive PDF)
- An animation
- Appropriate design elements: typography, graphics (appropriately optimized), layout, color scheme, consistent brand identity
- General artist statement
- 12-15 of your best portfolio work (must include your Interface Design projects); a 1-3 sentence statement for each work; slide ID for each work (minimum: title, project type, software used)
- About me or Résumé info or link to LinkedIn page (remember to be careful with personal info)
- Contact page form

- Slide ID for each piece: title of piece, size to be viewed, media
- Show your process (ie sketches and storyboards) for at least one project
- Résumé
THE LAST CLASS
Come ready to interview and be interviewed.
- Be sure your job ad is posted to the blog by May 12.
- Bring a list of interview questions to ask your classmates.
- Prepare for an interview for the job you posted. Come dressed appropriately.
Submit a CD/DVD that contains:
- All native project files (.indd-packaged, .psd / .ai and .muse / published .html) – include font files too or convert text to outlines
- Refined artist statement for each project
- All digitized project preliminaries
- General artist / ethic statement
