Lori's Viewbooks

Smith College
I liked how this viewbook was easy to navigate and there was even a sound effect as you flipped through the pages. I like how they used a collage of images on some of the pages.

Westminster College
I loved the images used in this viewbook. I liked how some connected to the next page which made it an interesting layout. The images of the mountains were a real eye catcher to me. Even though going to college has nothing to do with the scenery, it'd be nice to know that I could have something to do in down time.

Northland College
I liked how this viewbook was short and sweet. It grabbed your attention with the cover, and it was not overly long causing the viewer to loose interest. The images used were pretty interesting and peaked my interest in the page.
Geneva College
This viewbook was great because you could see it directly off their page without being redirected. The information and the pictures merged really easily with each other and love how they got interesting shots (like the aerial view).

Josh-Interactive PDF files

Jamie Shields Portfolio
The cover of Jamie Shields portfolio is quite appealing. I like the consistency of the color scheme throughout the file. I wish there was a main menu or contents section, though. The only interaction available is scrolling from left to right and links to outside web pages, making this more like a powerpoint or regular PDF. The page button images fit in well (in downloaded version) using the color scheme.

Interactive PDF Portfolio on Behance

I think this portfolio could use a cover page. I do like the previews of the pieces that show up when the mouse comes over the titles. However, the pieces themselves seem to be missing from the portfolio. Im not sure why these particular shapes were chosen for the contents screen, and I feel that the buttons on top could have been designed better with space around the type. I like the structure of how the pieces are organized by medium.

I like how the framing of this design stays in place throughout navigation of the portfolio. This keeps the contact information and self illustration in view at all times and prevents the user from ever getting 'lost'. I would have given more thought to the hierarchy of categories at the left. I think the portfolio categories should be larger and more important. The navigation arrows could have been smaller, and I probably would have used them to navigate projects rather than categories.

This PDF also keeps the buttons in place during navigation. I think there is an overuse of drop shadows here that creates a generic feel and maybe some overcrowding.
